Buddy care

Due to illness questions and worries can overwhelm.
Personal relationships and contacts can change and that can bring loneliness. A buddy can help to coop with the changed situation, can help to get back on you feet but is also a person to tell your story to or enjoy an outing with. That is buddy care!

  • A buddy (m/f) provides practical and emotional support and helps to build up relations and social contacts.
  • A buddy is a personal extra, a companion.
  • A buddy is not a nurse or home care employee but is a trained volunteer.

What a buddy does, how often a buddy comes, depends on mutual agreements; in either case no expenses are involved!
The Kuria buddy care is meant for “Amsterdammers” and is funded by the WMO.

When you feel hesitant to request for a buddy, please talk about it with some one, for example your general physician or the visiting nurse.
